Population: 39500-43500

 

Lifespan: 60-70 years

 

Distribution: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh,

Sri-Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Malaysia and Indonesia

 

Habitat: Tropical forest, subtropical forest and broad-leaf forest

 

Threats: Poaching, the ivory trade, habitat loss and human-elephant conflict

 

Wild Fact I: Asian elephants can eat up to 150kg of food per day

 

Wild Fact II: Male Asian elephants have tusks and females have tushes.
