Population: 200-300 breeding pairs

 

Lifespan: 40-60 years

 

Distribution: River systems

 

Habitat: India and Nepal

 

Threats: Depletion of fish, loss of riverine habitat, hunting and the use of fishing nets

 

Wild Fact I: Gharials are the only crocodilian where the males and females appearance differ
