Lifespan: 25-30 years

 

Distribution: Hawaiian Islands

 

Habitat: Lagoons, coral reefs, oceans and beaches

 

Threats: Fishing nets and disease

 

Wild Fact I: The Hawaiian Monk Seal is known in Hawaiian as 'ilo holo i ka uaua, which when translated means ''dog running in the rough seas''

 

Wild Fact II: Monk seals can dive as deep as 1500ft
