Habitat Loss
Habitat loss is one of the greatest threats facing wildlife today. Agricultural expansion and food production are just some of the reasons causing the destruction of habitats. Already around half of the world's original forests have vanished. When a habitat is destroyed it affects all levels of an ecosystem. The establishment of Palm oil plantations are just one example. While habitats are continually being degraded, wildlife population are shrinking.
By conserving habitats we are preserving a better tomorrow.
Illegal Wildlife Trade
The human population is increasing, causing a spike in the illegal wildlife trade. As human population increases, it increases the demand for wildlife; hence depleting wildlife populations worldwide. The wildlife trade ranges from exotic pets to tiger skins to ivory. According to experts at 'TRAFFIC', the wildlife trade network estimates the wildlife trade to run into hundreds of millions of dollars. Illegal wildlife trade is a key driving force behind poaching. Reducing the wildlife trade would reduce poaching significantly, thus ensuring the survival of species.
Education
Education holds the key to a future where wildlife and humans can co-exist. By creating awareness, changing public opinions and advocating ways to conserve wildlife, we can move to better tomorrow. By falsifying myths we can reduce the degree of threats facing wildlife today. For example, reducing the levels of poaching through rectifying the myth that rhinoceroses horn can cure cancer. Through gaining the interest of younger generations our mission to conserve wildlife will never fade but gain in momentum.
