Status: ENDANGERED

 

Population: 1500-2000

 

Lifespan: 30 years

 

Distribution: Sumatra, Thailand, Myanmar, Malayan Peninsular

 

Habitat: Tropical forest, secondary forest  and Lower motane forests

 

Threats: Habitat loss, deforestation and palm oil plantations

 

Wild Fact I: Malayan Tapirs are not exclusively nocturnal

 

Wild Fact II: Malayan Tapirs are good swimmers
