Status: CRITICALLY ENDANGERED

 

Population: 600

 

Lifespan: 50-100 years

 

Distribution: Baly Bay, North Western Madagascar

 

Habitat: Mangrove swamp, savanna, bamboo scrub and deciduous forest

 

Threats: Habitat loss, predation of eggs and poaching

 

Wild Fact I: It takes 20 years for the Ploughshare Tortoise to reach sexual maturity

 

Wild Fact II: The Ploughshare Tortoise is also called the Agonoka
